[ Description ]

Contemporary Ancestors is an ongoing artistic journey that began in 2016, rooted in my exploration of ancient Persian motifs and their connection to the present. This collection is the result of years of research, experimentation, and artistic interpretation—an attempt to build a bridge between past and present, tradition and innovation. Throughout history, visual symbols and motifs have carried the beliefs, philosophies, and identities of civilizations. In this project, I have carefully selected forms and patterns from different periods of the Persian Empire—each one carrying a unique blend of simplicity and complexity, reflecting the cultural and spiritual narratives of its time. To bring these motifs into a contemporary space, I chose pottery vessels as my primary medium. As some of the earliest man-made objects, pottery played a vital role in daily life—used for both practical purposes and as a means of storytelling. Our ancestors embedded their rituals, myths, and worldviews into these objects, turning them into carriers of meaning. By reinterpreting these vessels through a modern artistic lens, I aim to preserve their essence while exploring new creative possibilities. But Contemporary Ancestors is more than an artistic project—it is a continuous study of how ancient motifs transcend time, finding echoes in different cultures and civilizations. This project is constantly evolving, opening up new ways to engage with the past while shaping the future. At its heart, Contemporary Ancestors is about rediscovering and reimagining cultural heritage. It is an invitation to look closer, to reflect on the stories embedded in these timeless symbols, and to see how they continue to shape our world today.
